Why the
web? Think about rental space; office, retail, industrial or
commercial space even newsprint or magazine ad space and all these
spaces have one thing in common; a high price tag. Cyber
Space doesn't have the same stigma. It's really inexpensive
to rent or own web space, around a dollar or so a day. Also
consider if you spent the money necessary to run even a press
ad, let alone a magazine spread, you're talking thousands and tens
of thousands of dollars for each issue you decide to run your ad
in. Additionally once you run the ad or print your brochure you
own it and it's contents plus you reach only the limited
potential clients that you distribute your material to and their
specific demographics. So in essence if you circulate 100,000
copies of your material into a middle income neighborhood you
can reach only 100,000 potential clients with one common
demographic and realistically you can only expect that 3% of
those potential clients will respond.
With the web, your site will reach billions of
potential clients in all demographics. Figure 3% of that number.
You can also easily and
inexpensively adjust your web site to the actual returns you get
to fine tune the information more to the demographics of the
audience responding. You can change rates, specials, menus or
whatever specific information you want and you don't have to
wait until you use up all your printed material out of fear of wastage.
On the web there is no waste and consider how easily and quickly
you can build up a mailing list with no postage charges ever
being incurred. E mail is a million times faster, easier and
guaranteed to reach it's target.
The amount of information available on the web
today is astonishing and it will be much, much greater in only a
few short years. Think about it; people are now able to surf the
web on their cell phones and other
handheld devices.
When was the last time you saw an interactive magazine or newspaper ad?
You can do so much on a web site, have it run efficiently and
yet be very enjoyable to be viewed. Moving pictures, dynamic effects,
scrolling marquees, even pages that type themselves as your
viewers read them without taking extensive load up and
runtimes. You can't forget your web site on the train or bus or in a
plane or taxi. It's always there waiting for the next person to
come and find it. Even the newspapers and magazines are now on
the web. True people will always want some printed
material, however the number of those people is dwindling daily.
The web is much more environmentally friendly; you don't cut
down trees for a web site.
Where else can you get such a high return on your
advertising dollar; spend considerably less and reach so many
more potential customers; while all the time fine tuning your
advertising to keep in line with the returns and diversify if
you desire to increase those returns. Plus the monthly
statistical reports your web server provides tells you who is
looking at your site and from where.
Remember it's the World Wide Web; not the neighborhood newspaper or local
circular or regional magazine.
